You may be here because something in your life feels heavy, overwhelming, or out of balance. You deserve a space where you feel safe, supported, and truly seen. My holistic approach looks at the whole person—mind, body, emotions, and spirit—so we can understand what’s happening beneath the surface and help you move forward with more clarity and ease. In our work together, I’ll give you practical tools to navigate stress, anxiety, grief, or major life transitions. We’ll focus on reframing self-defeating thoughts, building self-esteem, and practicing mindful compassion so you can feel more grounded and empowered in your daily life.
With over 30 years as a Transformational Therapist, I draw from Breathwork, Guided Imagery, Stress-Release techniques, Centering practices, Energy Work, Therapeutic Movement, and Pattern Interrupts. For those open to it, I also offer Medicine Wheel work and Sacred Card readings for deeper insight.
Clients often say they feel comforted by my warm, intuitive style—maybe helped by the calm, steady presence I’ve learned from my beloved cats. If you’re ready for gentle, supportive, whole-person healing, I’d love to work with you. You can book time with my directly through my profile on Headway or give me a call.
Ready to find therapy that eases symptoms quickly? Dr. Athena Hubbard is a licensed psychologist specializing in psychological assessment, trauma treatment, depression, anxiety, and relational dynamics and concerns. She is trained in EMDR and ART, therapies proven to resolve trauma more efficiently than traditional approaches, and is certified in multiple evidence-based practices to create a treatment plan personalized to your needs.
My approach to therapy is rooted in a client centered approach. I am a clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience working with diverse populations and situations, settings and severities of mental health issues. The therapeutic environment is a safe and sacred space that is built on rapport and pacing ourselves gently and compassionately. I specialize in treating complex post traumatic stress wounds of the past and ongoing, dissociative identities and patterns, neurodiversity such as OCD, ADHD, AuDHD, chronic pain/autoimmune disease and overlapping invisible illness common to the complex of PTSD and the recovery process.
As a partner in your healing, I’m here to guide you through the vulnerable work of remembering, reflecting, releasing, and reclaiming. Using compassionate listening, loving honesty, and intentional processing of the challenges and changes affecting your mental health, my hope for you is to recognize that peace is possible. Central to this journey is acknowledging and understanding how your identities such as race, gender, and sexuality shape your experiences and worldview. In honoring that, creating a partnership where all parts of your identity are seen, safe, and valued is crucial to my practice. I believe it’s important to create a space grounded in grace that allows you to be kind and gentle with yourself. As we “walk” together and unpack the root causes of complex issues in your life, I will be with you as we identify new ways of being/doing, coping strategies, systems of support, and tangible self-care practices. If you’re ready to take the first step, I would be honored to walk with you on your journey of growth and healing.
