Hi, my name is Sarah. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor serving the Northern Virginia area. I specialize in working with adults with a variety of mental health concerns to include but not limited to trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, parenting, life transitions and stressors.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2017 and my Master of Social Work in 2019. My clinical experience spans a wide range of settings, including medical social work, OBGYN/postpartum care, community mental health, emergency services crisis intervention and stabilization, pre-liver transplant support, and child welfare. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the resilience people show during some of their most challenging moments.
I believe that all people have the innate capacity to heal. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel empowered to share their stories and process trauma in a way that fosters growth, clarity, and emotional well-being. I utilize trauma-informed approaches such as EMDR and parts work. I focus on teaching practical, effective coping skills that clients can use in their daily lives.
Health Psychotherapist with 12+ years experience at the intersection of trauma, life transitions, mental health, and medical issues-including 10-years at the Veterans Health Administration working with men, women, young professionals, and older adults.
Treatment Issues: PTSD, Trauma, Life Transitions, Anxiety, Relationship & Career Issues, Men's Issues, Personal Growth, Depression, Peri (Menopause), Illness & Injury, Stress, Self-Esteem, Boundaries, Optimizing & Coping Skills.
I believe therapy works best when clients feel genuinely seen and supported. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance-related concerns, using a collaborative and evidence-based approach tailored to each individual. My goal is to help clients reconnect with themselves, build healthier patterns, and create meaningful change at their own pace.
I hope to help you transform those painful, self-limiting beliefs and old patterns into realistic and affirming ones. The process I most often use incorporates bilateral stimulation of the brain. This is a simple technique that often has profound results. It has been shown to move clients very quickly towards the core healing, which is central to lasting results. One of the key benefits of this therapy is the ability to approach new situations /people with creativity, clarity, and new problem-solving techniques. This often occurs spontaneously as part of the process.
I am a trauma-informed therapist dedicated to supporting adults as they navigate the complexities of healing and self-discovery. With a background in supporting individuals within high-stress systems, I bring a deep understanding of how early life experiences and relational trauma shape our adult lives.
I specialize in working with clients to cultivate a healing relationship with themselves, fostering the resilience needed to break old patterns and navigate life transitions. My therapeutic approach is creative and holistic; I often incorporate art, nature, and somatic movement to help clients engage more fully with their internal experiences beyond traditional talk therapy.
Above all, I strive to provide a space where clients feel safe, seen, and heard. By establishing this foundation of trust, I empower individuals to gain the insight and self-awareness necessary to drive meaningful change on their unique healing journeys.
Outside of the office, I find my own balance through watercolor painting and am a self-proclaimed Swiftie.
I am passionate about helping individuals live healthy and productive lives, while dealing with life’s curveballs and dark places. I will meet you in the dark places of childhood trauma, job loss, family upheaval, disability, chronic illness, etc. without judgment or fear.
I have been working in the counseling field for 15 years and have worked with many different populations in a private practice setting. Extra training in anxiety disorders and autism spectrum disorders has given me an edge when working with these disorders.
