I am a National Board-Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselor to practice in Florida (LMHC). I obtained my PhD in Counseling at George Washington University and my master’s in clinical Mental Health at Villanova University.
I am a Catholic, bilingual, and bicultural clinical mental health counselor providing services in English and Spanish. I migrated to the United States 19 years ago as an international student. I bring a deep understanding of diverse lived experiences and the unique stressors related to acculturation and immigration. Also, I am an assistant professor, proudly teaching at the university level, to the next generation of master and doctoral students in Counseling.

20+ years of experience in the field of social work and a trained Trauma therapist with expertise in addressing the needs of victims of childhood trauma, domestic violence and sex abuse, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and chronic mental health issues. She also has specialized skills in self-esteem issues, relationship issues, marital counseling, anger management, loss and grief, youth and young adult issues, stress/anxiety.
I am a licensed clinical social worker in Maryland with over 20 years of experience supporting children, adolescents and young adults. I earned my Masters Degree in Social Work 1997 and have worked across a wide range of settings, including child and adolescent psychiatry.
My work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a strong focus on helping clients manage anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and the effects of trauma. I also have experience with women and older adults, which informs a thoughtful, developmentally sensitive approach to care.
I believe therapy should feel collaborative, supportive and practical. I strive to create a safe, affirming space where clients feel understood and empowered to build skills, confidence and resilience. I primarily work with children ages 6 through young adulthood, partnering with families with helpful to support lasting change.
I have been supporting the emotional and mental health of adolescents and young adults for a decade as a social worker. I specialize in family intervention and working with separated and divorced parents. I love working with parents who want to improve their relationships with their children and also work well with teens and young adults on enhancing self-esteem and finding balance in life.
I have over a decade of experience working in social services, including: schools, hospitals, outpatient & inpatient therapy, juvenile justice, & homeless/risk of homelessness transitional housing. I have worked with children, families, & adults.
