I have been counseling since 2006. I believe your dreams ang goals are bigger than the obstacles you face. I have learned there is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn't!
Thank you for taking a brave first step. I have 17+ years experience and enjoy helping people reach their counseling goals. You can expect to improve your life and important relationships through personalized counseling and support. I pride myself on being honest, compassionate, patient, (sometimes funny) and effective. I'm a combat veteran, which is important to some people.

I am from Alabama, so that means I have southern charm. I graduated from Mercer with my master's in Family Therapy. I have been in the mental health field for 10 years; I work primarily with adults. I work with individuals and couples. I've helped clients with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, motivation, self-esteem, and confidence issues. I've also helped them deal with life changes and given them executive and professional coaching. I've also worked with people who have compassion fatigue.

H! I'm Anna Mae. I value real conversations, not clinical or intimidating ones. I use warmth, humor, and genuine connection to help clients feel safe opening up. At the same time, I’m comfortable working with deeper emotional pain, trauma, and life transitions. Therapy with me is supportive, honest, and centered on what you truly need.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with extensive experience providing outpatient therapy, telehealth services, and overseeing psychiatric residential treatment programs. In addition to working directly with clients, I’ve supervised multidisciplinary clinical teams and coordinated care across the mental health continuum.
What that means for you: I understand mental health from both the personal and systemic level.
I’ve worked with adolescents, adults, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral challenges, and major life transitions. Many of my clients are balancing a lot — career demands, parenting, relationship stress, or unresolved trauma — and they’re tired of holding it together alone.
I believe in a systemic, trauma-informed approach. We don’t just treat symptoms. We look at patterns, environments, history, and how systems have shaped your experiences — especially for those who have had to navigate inequities in healthcare, education, or justice systems.
Therapy with me is about clarity, empowerment, and sustainable change.
