Hello, my name is Casey Schlesman. I consider myself a North Carolina native, although I grew up as a military child and lived in multiple states. I moved to the Richmond area in 2022 and loving it! My passion for helping others started at an early age, and I always knew my career would reflect that. Being a therapist is where I found that my passion for others could really come to fruition.
I attended Methodist University where I majored in Social Work, double minored in Psychology and Professional Tennis Management. I went on to receive my Master’s in Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
I have worked with a wide range of clients throughout my years of pre-licensed work and licensed work. I have found that I am passionate about working with teens, young adults and women.
Therapy should cultivate space to explore one’s truths, navigate challenges, and enhance resilience. My passion is empowering clients to embrace their authentic self and become their own best advocate. I am dedicated to fostering an inclusive and affirming environment where clients feel supported but also valued. I work with many individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, major life transitions, relationship tension, caregiver burnout, or trauma.
Hello and glad to meet you! I have over 18+ years' experience with 5+ of those years in telehealth. I am licensed in VA and WV. I focus on working with adults over 18 and doing relationship therapy. “If you’re ready to heal, reduce stress, and rediscover your peace, you’re in the right place. Be intentional about your healing journey so you can live the life you deserve.”
I’m Annetta Thomas, owner and psychotherapist of Purposely BE, LLC (PBLLC). I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), mental health advocate, life coach, and proud mother to a princess. My journey to becoming a therapist was both personal and purposeful. Though I once imagined becoming a doctor, my true calling emerged when I discovered the power of psychology and healing. I believe that resilience and healing are within reach for everyone.
I consider it a privilege to hold space for others during their most vulnerable moments. My goal is to help clients rediscover peace, clarity, and confidence as they navigate life’s challenges.
Are you finding it challenging to fully enjoy life or feeling a bit overwhelmed as you work toward the life you truly desire? Have you experienced painful events in the past or recently? Whether it’s you or a loved one going through ongoing struggles, please know that you are not alone, and I am here to offer my support and compassion.
EVENING TELEHEALTH HOURS/FREE CONSULTATION!! As a therapist, connecting with clients and walking with them through their journey of triumphs and challenges, I have found that the connection between counselor and client is paramount. I strive to meet my clients where they are, focusing on their strengths and empowering them to make the changes they see fit rather than prescribing issue or diagnosis. I value treating each individual client with the respect they deserve. Placing emphasis on developing a relationship that is based on warmth, trust, respect, and genuine care. The ease of conversation, is client driven and casual.
Many people seek out therapy because, despite their best efforts to change, they might end up in the same cycles. These cycles of behavior are driven by our life experiences and long-standing behavior patterns. Together, we will explore these patterns so that we can begin to create understanding of our motivations and create space for positive change.
For 16 years I have worked with clients impacted by anxiety, depression, and grief. My experience has provided me a unique perspective in working with individuals and couples, parents and families. I understand the need to get to know a counselor before scheduling a session. To help, I offer a free 15 min phone consultation. Look forward to hearing from you.
Choosing a therapist is a deeply personal decision. People often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or tired of talking in circles—and they want real change, not just support. That’s where my work is different.
I am a solution-focused, no-nonsense therapist who believes therapy should be both compassionate and effective. My style is warm, grounded, and direct. I help clients quickly identify what’s truly driving their stress or dissatisfaction, calm emotional overwhelm, and move forward with clarity and confidence.
Clients often tell me they appreciate my ability to be both deeply supportive and refreshingly honest—offering perspective, guidance, and direction while maintaining a safe, respectful space.
Personally, I have a lot of life experience and a naturally positive perspective that helps guide my work and intentional focus. I am a mother of five, married with a blended family, step mother of two, grandmother, an equestrian, boater and aviator.
Educationally, I earned my Master of Social Work from Florida State University in 1991 and Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in 1994. I have worked in Sports Broadcadting and Marketing, Medical Device Sales, Business and Behavioral Health. I have certifications in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, Executive Leadership, and Hypnotherapy.
