Hello, My name is Denise but I go by Dee Dee. Thank you for being here right now and choosing counseling for yourself! :)
Counseling and looking for a counselor is not an easy decision. (I offer 15 mins. consultation first). It is important for you decide what is best for you and I would love to talk about your needs for counseling first! :D
Counseling and/or Therapy encourages others while seeing the positives when at times it's hard to see that in yourself. You are worth this investment in yourself and a path through pain. I believe counseling is imperative to find the solutions to some of your emotional and body's struggles. I would love the chance to help you walk through the struggles in your life and help you find hope.
I specialize in using brain, heart, and body and how to integrate all three. Wellness is so important to mental health, too.
I hope that I can help you not only find health but healing. I work with all people individually except couple/marriage counseling.
In the end, when we are broken, we all need someone to help us along the way. :) Most of us, including me, found that and we are just passing it forward.
I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can show up just as you are. I work with people navigating grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions—especially those feeling stuck or overwhelmed by change. Healing starts with feeling heard, and that’s at the heart of my approach. With over a decade of experience as a licensed clinical social worker, I’m here to walk beside you—with compassion, presence, and evidence-based tools for healing.
I believe meaningful healing begins when individuals feel seen, heard, and understood. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, I bring over four years of clinical counseling experience, along with more than twenty-two years as a school psychologist, to support children, individuals, and families.
With more than two decades in education, I became deeply aware of how essential mental health support is for children and families. I witnessed firsthand how emotional challenges can affect learning, relationships, and overall well-being—and how transformative the right support can be.
These experiences led me to pursue a career in mental health counseling. Today, I partner with adults to help them build a strong, grounded foundation for themselves, one that naturally extends to their children and strengthens the family as a whole. I also remain committed to supporting teens as they enter adulthood, helping them develop the tools and confidence needed for lifelong well-being.
I am a bilingual social worker who primarily focuses on trauma, depression, and anxiety disorders. My work is guided by my belief in each person’s power to reflect on one’s life, understand the self and others from multiple perspectives, and integrate supportive lifestyle changes.
I am passionate about psychedelic-assisted therapy and am trained in harm reduction and integration in this area.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and a 2022 graduate of Walden University and earned a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
I recognize and appreciate that every person is a unique individual and there is not a “one size fits all” approach to counseling. I will work with you to determine the best approach to meet your goals. I am a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist-Associate who serves adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I work with young people experiencing disruptive behaviors, and individuals experiencing change of life concerns, anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders, as well as aiding individuals in developing anger management skills and coping skills to address emotional and behavioral concerns.
