I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and earned my degree from the University of Michigan in 2014. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and major life transitions, as well as those seeking greater fulfillment or a deeper sense of meaning in their lives. My approach to therapy is flexible and individualized—I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), while tailoring our work to your unique needs, goals, and personal style.
I began my career in community mental health, which shaped my deep and ongoing commitment to social justice, inclusivity, and compassionate care.
Hi everyone! My name is Amira and I received my Forensic Mental Health Counseling master's degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and also obtained a certification in victimology studies. My specialties areas are substance abuse, addictions, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and LGBTQ related issues.
I take a holistic perspective with my clients to address the health of body, mind, and spirit. I believe that a solid therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is a crucial part of the healing process, and that techniques and therapy approaches must “fit” the client in order to be effective—there is no “one size fits all” therapy.
