Raised biracial/bicultural, I knew the feeling of wondering how and where I fit in. This led to a lifetime of curiousity of what makes us behave the way that we do and how to create the life we desire. After an initial career in International Consulting, I knew that helping others to embrace life with joy and purpose was my true path. I entered the Gestalt Institute, gained a Masters in Counseling and ultimately a doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy. I find each individual to be unique and special so the work is always client-centered. Together we can explore your strengths and expand skills to meet any problems you may be facing.
With a degree in Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University, Jennifer Harrison-Sanchez is a passionate professional dedicated to serving her community. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), licensed spiritual counselor, and shamanic practitioner, Jennifer brings a unique and holistic perspective to her practice. She is deeply experienced in guiding individuals through life transitions, with a specific focus on those struggling with challenging dynamics such as addictions, co-dependency, enmeshment, PTSD, Complex PTSD, and narcissistic abuse.
I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and PTSD, as well as challenges like stress, anger, panic, bipolar disorder, identity concerns, maternal mental health, women’s issues, trauma, transgender support, and chronic conditions. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or trying to make sense of what you’ve been through, you’re not alone.
I’ve spent the last 14 years working with the VA and Air Force, supporting individuals through high stress environments, trauma, and major life transitions. That experience has shaped how I show up as a therapist, steady, understanding, and focused on helping you move forward in a way that feels manageable.
Outside of therapy, I love traveling, skiing, and hiking, and I value staying connected to the outdoors. That sense of grounding and balance is something I try to bring into my work with clients as well.
As a licensed psychotherapist with over ten years of experience in many settings ranging from community mental health agencies, non profits, private practice, the school system and teletherapy work I have had the privilege of working with people from many walks of life. I have been lucky enough to bare witness to just how strong, resilient and capable most humans when they have the right supports.
I know just how hard taking the first step or deciding to give therapy another chance can be and I welcome you.
