I have over a decade of experience providing therapy services to people of varying cultural, developmental, and clinical backgrounds. Currently, I work as a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Maryland. I am only providing virtual therapy appointments at this time. Over the years, I’ve received specialized training in health psychology working with diverse people in a wide-range of clinical settings.
Hello & welcome! I am an integrative trauma therapist and I specialize in helping clients heal from complex trauma, single-incident trauma, relational trauma, and significant life transitions. I am trained in several modalities (EMDR, Psychedelic Assisted Therapy, Somatic Therapy) to help clients heal in a way that honors their mind, body, and soul.
My style is collaborative, compassionate, and individualized to each client, with an emphasis on safety, insight, and emotional capacity-building. I strive to create a grounded, supportive space where clients can deepen self-understanding and move towards more connected, authentic lives.
What My Client Should Know About Me
I am Dr. Stella Chinonyerem Nnabugwu, DNP, PMHNP-BC, a Doctor of Nursing Practice and Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I specialize in treating adults with ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and medication adherence challenges. My clinical approach integrates evidence-based care, innovation, and technology to improve outcomes. I have experience in inpatient, outpatient, and community-based psychiatry, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. My practice is guided by the Belmont Report principles—respect, beneficence, and justice. I provide holistic, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered care that promotes resilience, recovery, and wellness.
I work with people who are living with depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizo-affective disorder, adjustment disorder or are going through difficulties and need assistance moving towards a better way of life. I enjoy working with people to manage symptoms, stress and the everyday challenges of dealing with a mental health issue.
In my spare time I enjoy art, creativity, music, dance, acting and writing. I work with crystals, candles, oracle cards, but am also grounded in science. I do a lot of mindfulness.
I am a member of the MAMCD, the Maryland Association of Multicultural Counseling and Development as well as MASERVIC, the Maryland Association of Spiritual, Ethical, Religious Values in Counseling.
As a licensed professional with over 10 years of experience, I support clients through helping them find their strengths to use as a foundation to identify and reach their life goals in a safe and nonjudgmental environment. I specialize in grief and loss, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, stress management, coping with chronic illness, workplace issues (EAP certified), military life and family/relationship issues.
My focus is to help individuals and families build resiliency to heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. We achieve this by providing a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing a treatment plan to connect you with simple strategies that would assist you with achieving your full potential.
Life can feel overwhelming when anxiety, ADHD, depression, or family challenges start to take over. You may find yourself stuck in unhelpful patterns or unsure how to move forward. Therapy offers a space to slow down, sort through what’s happening, and discover practical tools for lasting change. Together, we’ll focus on building emotional resilience, improving relationships, and helping you feel more confident and in control of your life.
