Hi. My name is Jolene Jensen. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Santa Cruz, CA. I have over 20 years of experience in the mental health profession, with a diverse range of clientele.
My passion for mental health began volunteering at a local all issue college crisis line. I now mostly work with adults facing life transitions, relational issues, GLBT and chronic illness. I like to integrate somatic energy tools, such as breathing, EFT and EMDR in my work with clients.
You deserve to live a life that leaves you excited to wake up in the morning and understand your own story. I believe you really can have a life of abundance, peace, life, and joy. Life is too short to surrender to sadness, hold grudges, be anxious, and/or be angry all the time. No matter where you are, my role is to listen, validate, and highlight your strengths to help increase self-efficacy. Let me help you want to be free of emotional pain and be able to find purpose to life.
I’m a therapist who specializes in working with relational struggles and wounds. Whether you are dealing with a challenging relationship, a recent loss or separation, attachment anxieties, childhood wounds, or an interpersonal pattern you want to get better control of, I can support you in better understanding and growing through your current challenge. My approach is very open, present, and direct.
I specialize in supporting people who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, trauma, life transitions and much more. I have extensive experience working with high acuity teens, and I also work with adults of all ages who are navigating imbalance, self-acceptance uncertainty, or emotional overload. I support parents who need guidance in understanding their child’s needs or simply a calm place to process their own feelings. No matter your age or background, if you are struggling to find balance and peace in life, I am here to help.
My approach begins with the belief that life poses great challenges for all of us. Through these challenges, we develop adaptive patterns that may help us survive but can also bring disharmony. I aim to help you bring awareness to these patterns, loosen their grip, and reshape them so you can find greater balance and harmony in your relationship with yourself, others, and the world.
As a therapist, my priority is to create a warm and open space where you feel truly heard and understood to develop a trustworthy and effective therapeutic relationship.
For over 25 years, I have delivered direct social work services to individuals, groups, and communities. Additionally, working with local non-profits and both state and private universities in the Los Angeles area for 12 years has allowed me to serve a wide variety of individuals, families, and group members.
Primary areas of focus include grief and loss, bereavement, depression, life transitions, older adults, intergenerational family matters, women wellness, university students, and assisting immigrants through challenging times in our world today.
