I have a Master's Degree in Social Work. My undergraduate work was also in Social Work. I have worked with many diverse populations, including Mental Health, Juvenile Detention, health care, Family and Couples therapy, and I am LGBTQ friendly. I mostly try to meet clients "where they are at" and help them define the issues they want to work on and set attainable goals. I treat Anxiety and Depression, ADHD, PTSD, Substance Abuse issues, and other unique problems and issues.
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for 30 plus years, since graduating from Wheaton College in 1992.
I have a broad range of experience with both mental health and substance abuse .
The only real tool I have as a therapist is trust. I strive to “earn the right to be heard” in a client’s life and heart.
I will always work with a client where they are, not where I want them to be.
I’m Meketia Henderson, LMFT. I support couples and individuals who are ready for deeper connection, healthier communication, and real, lasting change. I received my graduate training through John Brown University and have spent the past five years specializing in couples therapy, walking partners through every stage—from crisis and near-divorce to renewed trust, connection, and fulfillment. Few things are more rewarding than watching couples rediscover hope and emotional safety.
My approach is structured, compassionate, and practical. I’m Level II Gottman-trained and integrate Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients understand relationship patterns, improve communication, and build secure connection. Therapy here isn’t just about talking—it’s about learning tools you can use right away.
I believe meaningful change can happen even if only one partner is fully committed to the process. A reluctant partner doesn’t have to hold you back from growth or healing.
I also work with individuals navigating life transitions, communication challenges, family issues, stress, and adjustment concerns. Many of my clients are working professionals balancing career goals and family expectations while trying to build the healthy relationships they never saw growing up. They’re committed to breaking generational cycles and creating love that feels safe and intentional.
My style is relaxed, professional, and gentle, with frequent emotional check-ins—paired with honest, thoughtful challenge when it matters. I help clients turn vague hopes like “trust more” or “be like we used to” into clear, achievable goals that create real movement.
My passion for this work is personal. I entered marriage expecting magic, then met the reality of kids, careers, and losing myself in the chaos. That journey pushed me to learn what truly makes love last. Now, I help couples—just like I once was—build relationships that are healthy, connected, and fulfilling.
